Widnes Vikings' Girls Rugby League teams are here!
Originating in 2005 as the Widnes Moorfield Angels, the girls have successfully competed in RFL Festivals and Regional Cup games at three age groups, u12's, 14's and 16's, reaching the finals on a number of occasions.
Each year since its inception, a number of the girls have been rewarded for their hard work and dedication with the honour of selection for North West Counties regional representation, at u14's and 16's. The standard is such that the club has had girls captain the teams on more than one occasion.
Some of the girls have gone on to represent England Students and toured both France and Germany. One of the past-players, Faye Gaskin, captained England Students last year and was joined in the team by Tara Stanley and Sophie Gaskell, who is the current u12's coach. Tara has since joined the full England Ladies Squad and is currently training with the country's elite players.
We are delighted that we are now part of the Widnes Vikings and with their support, we hope to continue growing as a force to be reckoned with in the female game. We are looking forward to a long and successful future with the Vikings and fully commit ourselves to the ethos of excellence at the club.
Training sessions are held at Moorfield Sports and Social Club, Tuesday evenings 6 - 7pm. If you are aged between 9 and 16, whatever your ability, please come along and ‘Try It'.
