All Saints School visit

Valhalla Diary update by Kathryn Sanger

The Valhalla Foundation was hard at work again on Tuesday afternoon (May 24, 2011), teaching year four children from All Saints primary school about bullying.

The Vikings Against Bullying (VAB) programme, sponsored by Unison, offers children the chance to explore different ways to avoid and tackle bullying, with the use of stories and circle-time activities.

Community co-ordinator Ben Morris teamed up with the Vikings' number 23 Tangi Ropati and number 10 Daniel Heckenberg to deliver a lesson about what to if you are being bullied, or if someone you know is being bullied.

Hecks read a story to the class about being bullied and how telling a teacher can help to solve the problem, before Tangi quizzed the children about the story and read out some anti-rules.

The class then took part in a mix-up activity and a sentence finishing exercise, helping them to understand how it might feel to be bullied, with a little help from Ben, Hecks and Tangi.

The Valhalla Foundation would like to thank Unison for their continuing support throughout the VAB programme.
