Form Guide

Both sides head into this fixture after disappointing results in Blackpool, as they were defeated at Bloomfield Road in the Summer Bash.

It was the Vikings’ first appearance at the Championship’s showpiece event, as they faced local rivals Leigh Centurions in the final game of the weekend.

Despite mounting a second half comeback, Widnes fell to a 36-22 defeat in front of the highest ever Sunday crowd in the event’s history, with over 1,500 Vikings making the trip to the seaside.

Owen Buckley scored on his return with Lloyd Roby also crossing the try line, while Danny Craven picked up a brace in a man of the match performance.

York were heavily beaten on Saturday as Dane Chisholm led Featherstone Rovers to a comfortable 42-10 victory.

Although they competed well for the majority of the first half, the Knights went into the break 14-0 down and didn’t break their deadlock until the 70th minute when Perry Whiteley crossed, with Joe Porter rounding off the scoring six minutes from time.

Last Time Out

These two sides last met on Easter Monday, as the Knights turned over a 10-point deficit to come away with a 17-10 victory at Bootham Crescent.

Jayden Hatton made his first start for the club, while Ben Davies came in for his debut, as Sam Wilde and Ryan Ince crossed for tries either side of the break.

York levelled the scores when Jason Bass and Nick Rawsthorne found their way over the try line, before Conor Robinson landed a field-goal and raced in for a score which put the game to bed with seven minutes remaining.

Earlier in the season, the Vikings managed to get the better of the Knights in the Coral Challenge Cup, picking up a 44-12 victory at the Halton Stadium.

Sam Freeman marked his first home appearance with four tries, while Keanan Brand, Joe Lyons, Ryan Ince and Jack Owens also found their way onto the scoresheet, with Brad Hey and Jordan Baldwinson scoring for the visitors.

One to Watch

Conor Robinson – The Knights half-back played a key role in their Easter Monday victory over the Vikings, with his running game causing problems late on. He will be looking to put in a similar performance on Sunday, following up his try and field-goal last time out.
