1979 Challenge Cup Final - 40th Anniversary Celebration Dinner

Widnes Vikings will be holding a celebratory dinner at the Halton Stadium to mark the 40th anniversary of the club’s memorable Challenge Cup Final victory over Wakefield Trinity.

The dinner will take place on Saturday 25th May in the Bridge Suite, and a number of the players from that famous triumph will be in attendance.

Reg Bowden, who lifted the Challenge Cup trophy on that day, will be joined by Jim Mills, Keith Elwell, Glyn Shaw, Mick Burke and Mike O’Neill in attending the dinner.

Past player interviews will be conducted by the evening’s host, Roy Basnett, with original match footage being shown on the big screen.

An auction will take place, which will include the chance to purchase Mike O’Neill’s match worn shirt from the victory over Wakefield, which was donated by the Widnes legend during the fight to save the club.
