Widnes Vikings legend Kurt Sorensen has spoken out about the influence of supporters during his time at the Club, insisting the Chemics faithful drove him on to his success.

The Kiwi enforcer will be inducted into the official Hall of Fame on Friday 26th October at a celebration dinner, where the current members will be celebrated along with the induction of the new members.

The Vikings media team caught up with Sorensen to hear his thoughts on joining the illustrious list, as he underlined the importance of the fan’s support during his time with the Club.

“The admiration of the supporters meant a lot to me,” he commented.

“I think that was why I went so well for the club because I knew I had all of that support and it drove me on.

“There’s nothing like having the backing of the people watching you, and that really pushed me on to do well.

“I really felt at home when I played for the Club. The supporters were great and playing for their team and their town made me amerce the culture of Widnes.”

The town will always hold a special place in his heart, having spent the longest stint of his career with the Chemics.

Despite all of the silverware that Sorensen lifted in black and white, his favourite memory of his time in Widnes came off the field.

“The birth of all my kids was probably the best moment for me while I was at Widnes, because raising the children in the town meant a lot to me.

“I love the town, and even though the Hall of Fame dinner is still a few months away, I can’t wait to get there.”

The dinner to celebrate a list of esteemed Widnes legends and induct the latest Hall of Fame Members will take place in the Marquee Suite at the Halton Stadium.

The black-tie event will include a two-course meal, with guests asked to arrive at 7pm on the night for a 7:30pm start. Priced at just £40 for Stronghold Members, Vikings supporters are being given a brilliant opportunity to be part of a historic night for the Club.

Pre- bookings can be made by emailing enquiries@widnesvikings.co.uk, calling the ticket line on 0151 495 2250 or in store at the Vikings Superstore, located within Tesco Extra, Widnes.
