Widnes Vikings welcomed St Michael’s Catholic Primary School to the Halton Stadium on Wednesday morning, for a special behind the scenes experience.

Students from Year 5 were given a tour of the stadium and its office, meeting staff and hearing about their roles at the club.

The children listened to talks from the admin department, commercial team, media manager and Head of Youth Performance before watching the first team take part in a training session.

Wellington Albert, Danny Walker, Tom Gilmore and Aaron Heremaia greeted the students after their session, before Hep Cahill and Weller Hauraki fielding questions from the group.

It was a fun and interactive day which saw the children experience a day in the life of Vikings staff, and Head of Education Liam Clark was delighted to welcome St Michael’s to the stadium.

“It was great to have St Michael’s Catholic Primary School to the Halton Stadium today,” he commented.

“The children were a credit to their school, as they were well behaved throughout while listening to our staff talk about their roles within the club.

“It was brilliant to see the smiles on their faces as they entered the first team dressing room and met the players, and we hope they all enjoyed their day with us.

“I’d like to say a special thanks to Phil Finney, John Hughes, Sam Whyte, Dave Rolt, Niki Atherton and Janet Pheysey for giving up their time to speak to the kids today.”
