8th May 2018

We are delighted to announce that Club record appearance holder Keith Elwell and stand off Dave Moran are the latest names to be confirmed for Thursday night's 1978 League Winners Dinner.

Keith Elwell is a Widnes Hall of Fame inductee, making 591 appearances for the Club, scoring 87 tries. Keith also holds the rugby league world record for the most consecutive appearances of 239 games, spanning over 5 years between 1977 and 1982. The hooker goes down as a Widnes legend.

Widnes-born Moran, who attended Fisher More High School, joined the Club from Widnes Tigers, and was a classy stand off during his time at Naughton Park.

The side of 1977-78 wrote themselves in Widnes folklore by securing the club’s first ever league title, beating title rivals Bradford Northern and St Helens to secure the trophy by six points. The team was famously led by Widnes Hall of Fame inductee, Frank Myler, who goes down in history as a legendary player and coach of the Club.
