On Friday, Widnes Vikings secured the services of Krisnan Inu on a two-year deal from Catalans Dragons. The Vikings Media Team caught up with the outstanding outside back moments after he signed his deal, to get his thoughts on his upcoming move…

Krisnan, you’ve just signed a two-year deal with Widnes Vikings. How do you feel?

Any sort of move is exciting, but moving for the first time to an English team in the Super League is really big, so I can’t wait. I’ve been to the (Halton) Stadium a few times and met quite a few Widnes fans during the Rugby League World Cup, so I’m looking forward to seeing them all again.

What has your experience of playing against Widnes Vikings been like?

It was always a tough game playing against Widnes for the Dragons. You expect a difficult game when you play Widnes Vikings, whether that’s facing them at home or away. I don’t expect anything different when I arrive.

Do you know any of our players?

I know Hep and I played with Aaron Heremaia at the (New Zealand) Warriors. I’ve played with and against Chris Houston too. Knowing some of the boys will definitely help with settling in.

You always feel a little nervous when you move teams – it’s a bit like your first day at school! I’m going to be getting to know some new faces, and meeting some old ones again too, so it’s exciting.

Widnes Vikings have some brilliant young talent coming through. Are you the sort of player that likes to share their experience with the boys breaking through?

Yeah, definitely. I want to share my knowledge and help out in the best way I can. I’ll be happy to help out when needed and I look to lead by example. I know that the main thing for me to do though is to do my best, and play well for the team.

Finally, are you looking forward meeting all the Viking Stronghold Members and supporters, and pulling on your Vikings shirt?

Of course! As I said, from my experience at the World Cup and past games against Widnes, the supporters seem like a great bunch. I can’t wait to meet them all and I’ll do my best to shake everyone’s hand when I move over.

I’m really looking forward to starting training with the boys and representing Widnes Vikings soon. It’s a very exciting time!
