Widnes Vikings Co-Captain, Chris Houston, tasted a double success at the Club’s End of Season Lunch, winning both the Stronghold Player of the Year and the Players Player of the Year awards.

Making 27 appearances this season, the back rower has been consistently impressive in a challenging year for the Vikings. His experience as a leader and senior member of the squad has been vital in an injury-hit season, where the Vikings have drawn on the talents its young Academy graduates.

Chris has been a constant presence on the Vikings’ left edge throughout 2017. His defensive efforts have provided solidity to those around him, making over 700 tackles this year. Houston has also scored four tries, crossing the line against Leeds Rhinos (away), Hull FC (home), and delivering a brace at home to Leigh Centurions in a Man of the Match display.

Houston has committed himself to another season at the Vikings, renewing his contract in July 2018.

Houston achieved 35% of the vote from Stronghold Members. He was followed by Hep Cahill and Danny Craven, who came in second and third place respectively.

Widnes Vikings would like to congratulate Chris on his double award success.
