Staff working at Barclays in Cheshire raised £5000 to support the Vikings community programmes for older people.

The generous donation will help the Vikings grow and sustain its award-winning programmes, including Golden Generation and Chemics Café. Representatives of the bank were invited to this month’s Chemics Café, a dementia support group delivered in partnership with Community Integrated Care, to see how their donation will help change the lives of local people.

Stuart Murray, Barclays Business Manager, explains: “At Barclays, every staff member gets £1000 match-funding to support local community programmes. Five members of our team chose to support the inspiring work that the Vikings deliver within the community, such as the Chemics Café. It’s been brilliant to visit the Café and see the difference that this support will make.”

Richard Munson, Commercial and Community Director at Widnes Vikings, says: “We are very grateful to the team at Barclays for helping to raise this money, which will help us make an even greater impact on the lives of local older people. At Widnes Vikings, we are rightly proud of the work that we deliver in the community. It is only through the support of partners like Barclays that we are able to achieve our life-changing work, so I would like to express my sincere thanks to Stuart and the team.”
