Glyn Shaw confirmed for Wembley Heroes

14th August 2017

Widnes Vikings are delighted to announce that Glyn Shaw is the latest player announced for Wembley Heroes, the upcoming reunion event celebrating the heroes of the 1981 and 1984 Challenge Cup triumphs. Glyn will be joining Andy Gregory, and Steve and Mike O’Neill – with many more legends to be confirmed soon.

On Wednesday 23rd August (7pm start), Widnes Vikings will be hosting a special celebration event at the Halton Stadium, marking the Club's 1981 and 1984 Challenge Cup triumphs.

The event, which takes place in the week leading up to the 2017 Challenge Cup final and includes a two course dinner, will reunite the heroes of two of Widnes' greatest days. Expect to see some of Widnes' biggest ever names and to hear fascinating tales from the glory days of The Chemics. Glyn made 144 appearances for Widnes, scoring 18 tries. The strong, uncompromising forward played in both the 1979 Challenge Cup and the 1981 Challenge Cup triumphs. The dual-code star signed from Neath RFC and also gained 12 caps for Wales Rugby Union.  Expect to hear some brilliant memories from the big man.
