4th August 2017

Today, Widnes Vikings officially rename The North Stand to The Pat Price Stand at their derby fixture against Warrington Wolves (kick off 8pm).

Widnes Vikings Vice-Captain, Tom Gilmore, pays special tribute to Pat, ahead of this celebration of the life of Widnes’ greatest supporter:

“Like everyone in Widnes, I have fond memories of Pat. She was a massive part of this Club and everyone in the town knew her.

Growing up, Pat was good friends with my nan. She was always really-friendly, and interested in me and my aim to play for the Vikings. I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to have met her. Lots of the other boys in the team knew her well too, especially our local lads, and I’m sure that like me they remember her as being a great character.

Pat did so much for the Club. She was a proper fan, through and through. From booking coaches for away games to selling the matchday programme, and leading the cheers in the stand, she lived for the Vikings. I’m really pleased that the Club has chosen to give such a big honour to someone who stands as a true icon.

The Vikings will be led out onto the field tonight by Pat’s family, which is sure to be a special moment. Pat’s loved ones can be very proud of all that she did for her community and I hope that they enjoy this moment as much as she would have.

Widnes Vikings need as many supporters as possible, especially ones with the loyalty and passion of Pat. Whilst there will only ever be one Pat Price, hopefully we can all take inspiration from the standard that she set."
