Lloyd White is set to return from injury for Widnes Vikings’ huge Super 8s The Qualifiers fixture against Warrington Wolves this Friday (Halton Stadium, kick off 8pm).

The Wales international is relishing the opportunity to return to action in what will be a pivotal fixture. He is set to be joined by several other returning Vikings stars, including Rangi Chase, Rhys Hanbury and Chris Houston, providing a significant boost for the Vikings in the derby battle.

“I’ve had a bit of an injury hit season, so I’m looking forward to coming back and stringing some good games together. Unfortunately, a few of us have been out recently, so it will be good to have players back in key positions. Hopefully we can add to the team and help get the result.”

White says that the Vikings are fully prepared for the intensity of The Qualifiers competition.

“The Qualifiers aren’t going to be easy, but we’ve got a good start against Warrington, which will challenge us straight away. Even the Championship sides will throw everything at us, because they have nothing to lose, so we know that we need to be on our toes and at our best.”

The talented hooker believes that The Qualifiers can offer a fresh start for the Vikings, after a difficult season in an injury-hit year.

“We can treat this as a new competition. Everyone starts on zero points, so what we have done at the beginning of the season no longer matters. Our sole focus is to win as many games as possible and to stay up in the Super League.”

White has recently been called up for the Wales train-on squad for the 2017 World Cup, along with fellow Viking, Gil Dudson. Whilst he is excited for the big tournament in Autumn, he won’t be looking beyond the Vikings current competition.

“It’s exciting to have the Wales call up. I’m looking forward to getting out there, but for now my only focus is on Widnes Vikings and maintaining our Super League status.”
