The U19s returned to winning ways with a workmanlike performance which pleased coach Brett Hodgson.

It was clear from the opening minutes that the team wanted to put last week's display at Wakefield behind them and a lively start set the platform for the rest of the game.  Widnes dominated the opening 20 minutes but it was London who were closest to opening the scoring however a forward pass, close to the line, saw a good opportunity go begging.  The deadlock was eventually broken when Danny Walker started a move, in his own half, which ended with Liam Walsh racing away from 45 metres to touch down.

Six minutes later they extended their lead when Jake Knox was alert enough to pick up a ball which was ricocheting around and he scored in the corner.  With the minutes ticking away to half time Widnes got their third try.  A London knock on,in their own half, gave Widnes an opportunity which they didn't waste and Pat McCarroll barged his way over.  Brad Walker converted and the young Vikings held a 14-0 lead which they thoroughly deserved.

They soon made it 20-0 when Danny Walker scored a typical hooker's try as he burrowed over from close range and Brad Walker added the extras.  London then reduced the arrears as stand off Matthew Davies showed great skill to score from 35 metres and Ryan Couch made it 20-6 with the conversion.  London grew in confidence from this score but a poor last tackle option then a forward pass saw their momentum come to a halt and it was Widnes who scored again.  A neat kick was collected by Keanan Brand and the powerful centre scored his side's fifth try which Brad Walker converted.

With over 20 minutes left it looked like the Vikings would then force home their advantage even more but despite creating some excellent chances, two in particular for winger Tyler Jones, they couldn't add any further points.  Brett Hodgson whilst feeling that more points should have been scored was, overall, delighted with the effort shown over the 80 minutes and hopefully this can be carried forward for the tough game at Leeds on Thursday evening.
