Dan Norman has signed his first full-time contract with Widnes Vikings, putting pen to paper on a one year deal.

The nineteen year old back row signed for Widnes Vikings' Academy at the age of 16. He has trained with the Vikings first team for two years and played in the 2016 festive derby against Warrington Wolves.

The former Birchwood Community High School student played community Rugby League for Woolston Rovers and Latchford Albion. He has also represented England at U16 level.

Dan says: "I am delighted to have signed my first full-time, first team contract. This is something I have worked towards for many years and is a big step towards me achieving my dream of making it in Rugby League.

There is a special environment at Widnes Vikings and I am inspired seeing the successes of other Academy graduates who have broken into the first team. I would like to thank my family and all the coaches who have supported me, including Brett Hodgson, Phil Finney and Denis Betts."

Phil Finney, Head of Youth Performance at Widnes Vikings, says: "Dan has developed well since joining our youth system at the age of 16. We believe that he has real talent, a good work ethic and the potential to build a career in the game. I am sure that he will relish the challenge of breaking into the first team."
