Aaron Heremaia says Widnes Vikings are looking to deliver a big performance against Huddersfield Giants on Friday night.

“The boys definitely want to put on a better performance after Sunday’s game against Wigan,” he says.

“I believe that it’s always good to have a short turnaround after a disappointing result, having the chance to play again."

“There was lots of determination and desire against Wigan, but we know that we need to improve our discipline and the execution of our plays. Huddersfield will be a tough challenge, but it's one that we’re relishing.”

Rick Stone’s side have built up an improved run of form in the last couple of months, and have propelled themselves into the top eight of Super League. Aaron says that a major factor in their success has been their strength down the middle, and that the Vikings need to be equipped and ready to combat that on Friday night.

“Their forwards have been a key part of their recent success, so we’re know it’s going to be a real physical challenge.

“We played them back in Round One this year and they completely bullied us that night, so it’s definitely become a big game for us. We want to set things right after that performance."

“If we can get close to nullifying those forwards, it will definitely go a long way for us getting those two points. That's going to be an important battle.”

The Vikings were backed by over 1000 Stronghold Members and supporters at the DW Stadium last weekend. Heremaia believes that the passionate backing from the Vikings supporters is vital.

“Their support is going to be massive for us,” he said.

“Against Wigan last weekend, the supporters were brilliant and made a lot of noise. It almost felt like we were at a home game! It was inspiring to see and hear.

“The Vikings fans appreciate a good effort and performance, and they thanked us after the game on Sunday. Hopefully we can have more of that on Friday and we can repay them with a good win.”
