Stuart Wright Confirmed for Lunch With Legends

30th June 2017

Widnes Vikings are proud to announce that Stuart Wright is the latest addition to the 'Lunch With Legends' event.

On Friday 21st July, the Vikings will be bringing together past and present stars for a unique celebration lunch hosted by famed Rugby League compere, Pete Emmett. Wright will be joined by Jim Mills, Ray Dutton, Reg Bowden and Mal Apsey, as well as current first-team stars Chris Houston and Tom GIlmore.

Live-wire winger, Wright, joined the Chemics from Wigan in 1976. He established himself as a firm supporters' favourite over eleven seasons. In his 263 appearances for Widnes, Stuart scored a phenomenal 151 tries.

His try scoring exploits earned him international recognition with seven caps for Great Britain, including in the 1977 World Cup Final, and a further seven appearances for England.

Wright made five Wembley appearances for Widnes, winning the Challenge Cup in 1979, 1981 and 1984.

Famously, he scored a stunning try in the 1979 Challenge Cup final against Wakefield Trinity, with a beautiful piece of individual skill. Wright cut through the Wakefield defenders, chipping the ball over their pack and outpacing them to score a stunner in the corner. He'll be sharing memories of this moment, and many other highlights, at our exciting event.

Tickets are priced at just £25 or £20 for Stronghold Members. Further legends will be announced for the event in the coming weeks. The event will run from 12.30pm (1pm start) until 4.15pm and includes a two course lunch.
