Jordan Johnstone Extends Contract Until 2019

16th June 2017

Widnes Vikings star Jordan Johnstone has extended his contract with the Club until the end of the 2019 season.

Johnstone, 20, has been one of the Vikings stand-out performers of this season, making fourteen appearances for the Club at hooker and half-back.

Jordan joined the Vikings in 2015 from the Cumbria Storm Academy. He is a graduate of the Widnes Vikings Academy system, which has been independently rated by the RFL as Outstanding. Johnstone made his Super League debut for the Vikings in 2016 and has gone on to be almost ever-present for the Club this season.

Jordan started his Rugby League journey at the age of four, playing for Kells ARLFC in his hometown of Whitehaven.

Jordan Johnstone says: "I am delighted to have secured my future at Widnes Vikings. I joined the Club at the age of 17 and I love it here. We have a fantastic group of players and I have been offered great opportunities to develop my abilities, so I had no hesitation in making this decision. I am excited to see what we can achieve in the seasons ahead."

Denis Betts says: "It is really pleasing to see Jordan commit to the Vikings. Jordan took on a big challenge by moving to Widnes from Cumbria at a young age, and is now seeing the benefits of that bravery and hard work. He has made a fantastic contribution to the team this season and I am excited for his future, knowing that he has a lot more to give in the years to come."
