Widnes Vikings take on Castleford Tigers at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle on Friday 29th May. The Vikings will be looking to repeat their 2016 regular away season fixture against the Tigers, in which they ran out 38-28 winners.

Squad News 

The Vikings make six changes to their 19-man squad that took on Wakefield Trinity at Magic Weekend as Chris Bridge, Ted Chapelhow, Tom Olbison, Corey Thompson, Danny Walker and Brad Walker come in for Rangi Chase, Gil Dudson, Rhys Hanbury, Chris Houston, Eamon O'Carroll and Sam Wilde.

Daryl Powell makes three changes to his squad who claimed victory over the Rhinos at Magic Weekend with Ben Roberts, Joel Monaghan and Kevin Larroyer replacing Alex Foster, Junior Moors and Jake Webster in their 19-man squad.

Denis Betts’ side head into this game with the desire to record their second away win of the season following their success against Leigh Centurions earlier in the year. Denis Betts' ran out 38-28 winners in the regular 2016 season against high-flying Castleford and will be wanting to do the same this year.

The Tigers are the form team in the competition at the moment, and currently sit top of the Betfred Super League after their latest win over Leeds Rhinos at Magic Weekend.

Previous Meetings

Castleford hold the upper hand in recent meetings with the Vikings, winning 6 out of the last 8 games with Denis Betts' side, including the one time the two sides have met in 2017. 

In 2016, the Vikings won one of the three games they faced with the Tigers, with the game being the aforementioned 38-28 win over the Tigers at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle in June of last year. Castleford ran out close winners in the other two games, but the Vikings were 18-0 up in the home fixture before letting Castleford back into the game.

Widnes Vikings Milestones 

The game with Castleford Tigers will be Denis Betts' 200th game as Head Coach of Widnes Vikings.

If selected, it will be Charly Runciman's 50th appearance for Widnes Vikings since joining the Club in 2015.
