Vikings sign Warrington pair on loan

15th May 2017

Widnes Vikings are pleased to announce the loan signings of Sam Wilde and Jack Johnson, who will be joining the Club from Warrington Wolves for a four week spell.

Wilde, 21, can play at loose forward and second row, and has made 18 appearances for the Wolves, including a starting role in the 2016 Super League Grand Final. He came to prominence in Warrington's 2016 season, when he was instrumental in their victories over Hull FC and St Helens, which secured their 2016 League Leaders Shield and qualification for the Grand Final.

Johnstone, 20, can play at fullback and wing.  He made his debut for the Wolves in September 2015, and has since played 11 games - scoring four tries.

Denis Betts, Head Coach of Widnes Vikings, says: "We are pleased to have secured Sam and Jack at a time when we are facing injury challenges and need additional cover. Both players are talented, have a number of positive playing qualities and will enhance the squad during their time here."

He adds, "I would like to thank Warrington Wolves for their support with these loan moves."

This announcement was made exclusively first to Widnes Vikings' Stronghold Members at 2pm.
