Businesses invited to join ‘Platinum 5’

26th April 2017

Richard Munson, Community Director at Widnes Vikings launched a new community business partnership scheme at this morning’s Business Ambassador Breakfast. ‘Platinum 5’ has been designed to offer businesses high profile marketing opportunities, match day hospitality, and the ability to make a difference to people lives in Halton.

Widnes Vikings are proud to launch the ‘Platinum 5’ project which aims to engage local Halton Businesses into supporting its award winning work in the community. After being awarded the RFL ‘Foundation of the Year’ and scooping two 3rd Sector Care Awards for its programmes with Community Integrated Care, the Vikings have ambitions to grow its work in Halton, engaging, educating, and inspiring more people in 2017 and beyond.

Richard Munson, Community Director at the Vikings said ‘2016 was a really successful year for our work in the community. Winning such high profile awards was a real achievement and a credit to the fantastic staff and partnerships we have in place. Engaging local businesses into our work is now a real focus to support us to grow our delivery offer even wider within our core strands of education, school sport, health and wellbeing, and social inclusion. We believe sport offers businesses a great way of fulfilling corporate social responsibility agendas and have already launched community partnerships with club partners Madabout Media and Rinnai UK this year.

‘Platinum 5’ offers for just £5,000, the chance for businesses to align themselves with five of the club’s most successful community initiatives including ‘Game Changer’ which engages over 2,500 children in physical fitness and healthy lifestyle sessions, or the ‘Vikings Learning Centre’, which provides educational qualifications to young people and adults. In return for the financial support, the businesses logo will be attached to all five projects with individuals within the programmes receiving additional opportunities as a result. Substantial PR of the businesses will be promoted across the Vikings wide ranging media platforms. In addition, a business wishing to join ‘Platinum 5’ can have the chance to create their own bespoke community project which is tailored to the needs and priorities of their business.

An example of a business already backing the club in the community is Rinnai UK. Speaking at the launch of its supported ‘One Club My Vikings’ project Chris Goggin, Associate Director said “Rinnai is a global organisation that embraces community initiatives in all our international regions, promoting inclusiveness and acting with humility towards all stakeholders.  Widnes Vikings and the One Club My Vikings initiative clearly encapsulates and enhances our own values. A further indication of the excellent partnership potential that exists between our historic yet future focussed organisations. It gives us great pleasure to support this initiative and help an award winning team with their relentless remit towards the betterment of our local community”

As a thank you for supporting our work in the community, Platinum 5 Businesses will be invited as a Main Match sponsor to a Widnes Vikings home Super League match in either the 2017 or 2018 season. As Match Sponsor, businesses will receive hospitality places in the C&C Insurance Karalius Suite as well as a suite of media and pr opportunities across Vikings media channels.
