Widnes Vikings take on Wakefield Trinity at the Beaumont Legal Stadium on Friday 7th April. The Vikings will be coming up against Chris Chester’s side on the back of a brilliant victory against Leigh Centurions at the Leigh Sports Village last week. 

Squad News 

The Vikings make a few changes to the 19-man squad that took on Leigh Centurions last week, with Joe Mellor, Alex Gerrard and Keanan Brand coming into the 19 to replace Stefan Marsh, Greg Burke and MacGraff Leuluai.

Trinity head into this game with Chris Chester naming an unchanged squad from their two recent victories against Leigh Centurions and Catalans Dragons.

Denis Betts’ side head into this game on the back of their first win of the 2017 Betfred Super League season with a 37-24 victory at the Leigh Sports Village. The Vikings sit 11th in the table but if results go their way, can push as high as 9th in the table. 

Chris Chester’s side sit in 6th place in the table, with four wins from their opening seven games. They will be looking to extend their winning run to three games, following a 28-24 victory against Leigh and a win in the south of France against Catalans Dragons.

Previous Meetings

In 2016, the Vikings came out victorious with two wins against their opponents compared to Trinity’s one victory in April 2016. 

The Vikings took the two points on the opening weekend of the season with a 24-16 win in February, with Wakefield winning 18-16 in April. In the Super League Super 8s, the Vikings ran out comfortable 40-8 winners as they finished in a Super League best of 7th place. 

Widnes Vikings Milestones 

If selected, Gil Dudson will be making his 100th Super League appearance. Dudson has achieved this playing for the Crusaders, Wigan Warriors and Widnes Vikings.

If selected, Ted Chapelhow will be making his 50th career appearance. 

Danny Craven will hit 250 career points if he manages to score 5 points in the game on Friday night against Wakefield Trinity.
