Danny Walker is set to make his debut in today's fixture against Leigh Centurions. The talented hooker, who has represented England at Youth and Academy level, has been drafted into our match day squad as a late replacement for Aaron Heremaia.

Danny, 17, joined Widnes Vikings as a fourteen year old, having played his community rugby league for Rylands Sharks and Crosfields ARLFC. He has represented the Vikings at every level of our youth pathway. Walker is praised as being a tenacious, competitive player, who has delivered outstanding displays for the Vikings and England at youth level.

This call up could potentially see the Vikings first team be represented by six Widnes Vikings Academy products, with him being joined in the squad by Tom Gilmore, Jordan Johnstone, James Chaplehow, Matt Whitley and Danny Craven.

Widnes Vikings would like to congratulate Danny, his family and everyone who has supported his development for this achievement.

Denis Betts says: "Danny is an exciting young prospect, who has been working with the first team squad for more than a year. He's proved his abilities at domestic and international youth levels, and we are pleased to see him take this opportunity to step forward and make his first team debut. His selection is another example of the impact of our Academy system. I hope that Danny enjoys this experience."
