Vikings Launch Senior Pro

Widnes Vikings are proud to launch Senior Pro, a new project that will support over 50s who are not in employment to improve their health, have fun and boost their employability. 

Over the course of 12 weeks, participants will be given an incredible range of experiences - from gaining an accredited Employability Certificate and develop  IT skills, to taking part fun exercise classes, such as walking rugby or yoga.

Participants will have their own mentor, who will support them to achieve their own personal objectives - from finding alcohol support, to receiving dept advice or gaining work experience. They'll also have support to find employment, through accessing a job club.

The daytime course runs three days a week, beginning 6th March. Taking part at the Halton Stadium, participants will have the opportunity to get be part of special experiences with Widnes Vikings.

The project is funded by European Social Fund (ESF) via Workers Educational Association (WEA)

Richard Munson, Community Integrated Director at Widnes Vikings, says: “We are delighted to launch this new programme. The Vikings Community Team have worked hard to develop a course that will make a difference and be fun.

Asif Hamid, Liverpool City Region LEP Interim Chair and Co-chair of the European Structural Investment Fund (ESIF) Committee, said: “This will give much needed support, advice and guidance to assist the long term unemployed to gain access to work and in turn increase economic growth across our City Region.”
