Cahill and Buchanan praise Golden Generation

23rd February 2017

Widnes Vikings first team players Jack Buchanan and Hep Cahill have endorsed the weekly Golden Generation programme, in partnership with Halton Clinical Commissioning Group, after attending the session last week.

The Vikings forwards took part in a Q & A session with the Golden generation, asking a range of questions from life as a Super League player, to hopes and aspirations for the 2017 season.

The session has had many people connected with Widnes Vikings attending, including assistant head coach Brett Hodgson, Vikings hooker Lloyd White and ex-Widnes and St Helens player John Stankevitch, and Jack and Hep are the latest names to add the list.

Loose forward Hep Cahill, says: “It was great to come along and hear their thoughts and answer a few of the questions that they had for us.

“They have been around the Club for years now and they weren’t afraid to ask questions that people wouldn’t usually which is good and it was more like talking to friends and I really enjoyed it.”

Vikings front rower Jack Buchanan, says: “It was really good to come along,”

“Obviously they are fans of the Club and they come to the games week in, week out. It was great for them to ask us questions about what it’s like as a player, about our training and about the season ahead. It was good to get in there and answer them and I really enjoyed it.”

The ‘Golden Generation’ group meet every Friday from 2.30pm at the Halton Stadium. Golden Generation is a social inclusion activity that has created new friendships and offers opportunities for those that are involved. Due to the success of the Golden Generation, friendships have been formed outside of the programme, and they attend other activities, such as Bowls and Walking, as a result of first meeting here.

If you are aged over 55 and want to come along, connect with people over Widnes Vikings, please come down for 2:30pm at the Select Security Stadium every Friday. For more information contact Dan Scott on / 0151 4952250.
