Widnes Vikings held the final gathering of its Business Ambassador Network for 2016 last week at the Halton Stadium.

The Network, which celebrated a year since its original inception, was created to bring together like minded businesses who wanted to support the club's work in the community and gain unique insights into all facets of the club through quarterly network meetings.

Vikings Head Coach Denis Betts and Head of Strength and Conditioning Chris Baron were present at the event and gave those attending an insight into all performance aspects at the Club, and spoke of the Club's preperations ahead of the 2017 Betfred Super League season.

Both have been involved with England Rugby League for the recent 'Four Nations' tournament, emphasising the excellent work they have done with the club.

The club was proud to introduce Ambassadors to the opportunities afforded through the 'Well North' investment that has come to the Borough. The scheme, which will also invest in projects in Halton Brook and Windmill Hill, will see a number of partners including the Vikings, Wellbeing Enterprises, and SPARC come together to deliver projects through the 'Well Widnes Hub' that promote health and wellbeing through enterprise activity.

Lord Mawson, Chairman of Well North commented: “It was inspiring to hear about the fantastic partnership between the Vikings and their Business Ambassadors,”

“Local companies and entrepreneurs are key to promoting Halton as a great place to live, work and grow businesses. Healthy, happy and engaged communities make good economic sense, and Well North is keen to help generate new opportunities for  jobs, training, apprenticeships and the local supply chain. The Vikings and their partners across the borough are a brilliant team, effectively tackling the barriers to Halton becoming a healthy and vibrant community.”

Dave Sweeney, Deputy Cheif Officer of Halton Clinical Commissioning Group, says: "NHS Halton CCG are extremely proud of working in partnership with local partners under the National support of 'Well North'.

"This collaboration brings new and visionary opportunities to local entrepreneurs. This innovation also brings the chance to broaden a well Widnes offer to the most vulnerable in our communities."

Richard Munson, Community Integrated Director at Widnes Vikings, says: "This was the last chance for Widnes Vikings to thank our Business Ambassadors for their valued support this year. I'd like to say a special thanks to Denis and Chris for coming and giving Ambassadors a real unique insight into their time with England and the progress the Vikings are making in pre season. We try to make each event better than the last, and I would like to thank Lord Mawson and Dave Sweeney for coming and providing an introduction to Well North. The Vikings are really privileged to be playing a key part in the delivery of the scheme and look forward to working with the schemes partners and Ambassadors alike to provide opportunities for local people'.
