Golden Generation Project for Over 55s

30th July 2015

Widnes Vikings are delighted to announce the launch of the ‘Golden Generation’ project.

The ‘Golden Generation’ project is part of the Vikings’ ‘First Tackle’ scheme launched by the Club in partnership with Halton Clinical Commissioning Group. The project offers Vikings supporters aged 55 and over the chance to spend Friday afternoons at the Select Security Stadium reminiscing about favourite moments in the Vikings history alongside former players from over the years.

The ‘Golden Generation’ sessions will start on August 7th and will take place every Friday afternoon from 3 – 4pm.

‘Golden Generation’ will also offer opportunities for participants to view some of Widnes Vikings’ most famous games in an adapted cinema room in addition to taking part in a broad range of cultural activities including poetry and art.

Richard Munson, Widnes Vikings Community Integrated Director commented on the launch of the latest ‘First Tackle’ initiative: ‘We are delighted to be working with Halton Clinical Commissioning Group on the ‘Golden Generation’ project. We feel the project will be hugely beneficial in providing positive activities for our older fans. Through our partnership with the CCG, we are consciously aware of the focus on isolation in older people and we feel this is an exciting initiative that will provide tangible health and social benefits for the participants.”

Participation in the 'Golden Generation' sessions is free to all over 55s.
