Vikings FC - 'Dressed to Thrill'...and you're invited! Story in brief:

Vikings FC - ‘Dressed to Thrill'...and you're invited!

Vikings FC v Gateacre FC

Saturday 22nd September (KO - 3.00pm)

Stobart Stadium Halton

The recently launched Vikings FC are in action this Saturday, when Gateacre FC are the visitors to the Stobart Stadium.

The West Cheshire League game kicks off at 3.00pm and admission costs just £3 with juniors allowed free entry. South West turnstiles open at 2.30pm

Please note; if you are a Viking Stronghold member, for this fixture only admission is free.

The game will see Vikings FC running out in their new playing strip for the first time. Manufactured by O'Neills Irish Sportswear, the Vikings FC kit is predominately white in colour with a black and gold trim, featuring Stobart as its main sponsor across the chest with the logos of each of the club's business partners; REEL Cinemas, Poly Blend, Printel and Electrod UK also present. Further to this, the FA Charter Standard Community Club logo and RESPECT Campaign emblem is incorporated.

It will also be a momentous day for the club as Steve Hill takes charge of the team for the first time after being recently appointed as the new Vikings FC senior football manager.

Hill brings with him over 20 years of experience in coaching and managing; working with Liverpool County FA, Liverpool FC and Prescot Cables which has given him a major insight into player development.

Commenting on his appointment, Hill said; "I can see that the club has ambition and wants to move in the right direction and I am looking forward to the football ahead. This season will be about transition for next season."

Appreciating the job is a long-term process, he added; "We might not be ready for the title, but the process starts today.

"It's the ambition of every manager, you want to get to the top.

"I'm very proud and very honoured today to be announced as manager of Vikings Football Club."

Club secretary Bill Morley labelled the 50-year-old's appointment as "an important step" and promised supporters it was a move they "can be excited about."

"Steve's comprehensive football philosophy is perfectly aligned with those at the club and those soon to join the club," Morley stated.

"He was the only choice unanimously and he had no hesitation at all in embracing exactly what we want to try to build at Vikings FC.

"We do not expect miracles overnight nor should anyone else. But we firmly believe that the direction the club is heading in will lead to success and promotion. We will embrace the unconventional, build the right way and together set a bold, exciting course for this fantastic club."

"We have opened up an invitation to all Viking Stronghold members to attend this fixture for free. The team received a fantastic ovation from the Vikings members and supporters when we took part in the pre-match parade at the Warrington fixture and we would love to see some of the same faces coming along to the Stobart Stadium tomorrow to cheer on our local talent."
