Can the Vikings stop the Red Robins bobbin' along?

Hull Kingston Rovers are the visitors to the Stobart Stadium on Sunday 29 July and advance tickets for the Stobart Super League XVII - Rd. 22 fixture are now on sale at the Stadium Fitness Sports Store on Lowerhouse Lane.

If purchased before match day, tickets cost just £20 for adults, £13 for concessions and £11 for juniors. On the day of the game, these prices increase by an extra £2 per category.

Currently sidelined with a pectoral injury, Vikings full back Shaun Briscoe spent four enjoyable seasons at Rovers before joining Widnes. However, his first return trip to MS3 Craven Park Stadium ended in a 36-0 loss, and it is one memory he is keen to erase; "Obviously this is one of those games that you try your best to forget. The conditions we played in were ridiculous and many would argue that the game probably shouldn't have gone ahead.

"I remember saying at the time that it was the coldest I have ever been on a rugby field in my entire career but putting the weather to one side, it was still a disappointing display from ourselves and we got what we thoroughly deserved. Rovers played the conditions a lot better than we did and quite rightly came out on top."

Whilst accepting the defeat graciously, Briscoe is keen to stress just how much the Vikings set-up has matured since those early rounds of the 2012 competition, adding; "From day one we've continued to grow as a team and as a club and slowly but surely we've proven that we are getting there and I'm confident we will put in a much improved performance this time around."

With just three Stobart Super League games left at home and six overall, Shaun admits the Vikings are looking to finish their first season back in the top flight with a flourish, stating; "We've not given up on anything this year and our goals are as strong as they always were. We still go into each game believing we want to win it and I can assure you that every single player who pulls on a Widnes jersey, does so with pride and goes out-there to give it their all.

"If our fans continue to get behind us, as they have all year, then hopefully we can finish our season strongly and give them even more to smile about!"

Advance tickets for the Hull KR clash are now on sale at the Stadium Fitness Sports Store which is open from 9.00am - 5.00pm Monday to Friday, 9.00am - 4.00pm on Saturdays and 3 hours before kick-off on home match days.
