Will it be third time lucky for the Vikings?

Having met already in both the Stobart Super League and Carnegie Challenge Cup this year and come out second best on both occasions, the Vikings will be hoping to make it third time lucky on Sunday 8 July when St. Helens visit the Stobart Stadium.

On the back of a comprehensive 40-10 victory over Castleford Tigers, the Vikings will also be looking to complete their first back to back wins of the season and Head Coach Denis Betts admits he would love nothing more than to reward the ‘17' that took to the i-pitch on Monday night with a further opportunity to impress; "The one thing I would really like to do, is something that I have not had a chance to do all year and that is to pick the same side two weeks on the trot.

"That would be a real bonus and offer us the consistency and stability we have been striving for all season."

 

With only 8 rounds left in weekly competition and teams jostling for points and positions on the league ladder, Betts is well aware of the threat posed by a hungry St. Helens team littered with international players, adding; ""Saints are a very dangerous team.

"We've played them twice already this year and in the first game we found ourselves involved in a bit of a ‘you score - we score' contest and ran them really close. Less than a week later we played them again at Langtree Park and got our backsides well and truly smacked.

"There was an outstanding atmosphere at the Stobart Stadium on Monday night and this gave the players a huge lift. More of the same this weekend would certainly be appreciated by everybody at the club."
